DUNBACK.
August 6.— The annual concert and ball in aid ii 4?. unback School funds camo off on the 27th ult. The weather was fine, and consequently the attendance was satisfactory. Mr James Macfarlane, chairman of tho committee .presided. The following are some of the items contributed during the evening ;— Messrs Jones and Pearson, duets, " Larbard watch " and Alls well ; Mr Borthwlck, "After the W. . nn . d . .7 A i A ..-i t \' Miss H - M'Laron, Robin Adair and Banks and braes of bonnie Pr 0011 T ' , M ,', SS °"tred, "Scottish bluebells"; Mr L Miller, "There's no one like mother tome and Home, bpys, home"; Miss G. Butchart, Millys faith' -Mr R. Young, "The fisherman and his child" and " The Arab's fare\r -r' ! i? Ir » rotation, » The Late Mrs Fisher",; Mrs Mills, " Home they brought her warrior and "Kate O'Shane" ; MrGow, "I went with him ; Mr W. M'CuUoch, violhi solo, Cradle song." Misses O'Neill and Miller played a pianoforte solo each. Miss O'Neill and Miss Campbell acted as accompanists The piano was kiifclly lent by Mrs Wills. After the concert was ever the room was cleared for dancing. The floor was uncomfortably crowded, but everyone seD >» ct ] J" «god humour. Dancing was kept up until 4..J0. Mr J Phihps's violin supplied the music and Mr J. Murray acted as M.C Arbour DAY.—This event was duly observed here. The school children assembled, and after planting over 40 trees, adjourned to tho schoolroom, where very liberal refreshments were provided by the ladies of the district. The Railway department have also planted a number of trees, around the buildings. A Change.— Very few carriers, come to Dunback now for their loadings, as tlie goods now go to Hydo. They will be missed a good deal here Navarre, who was killed at Hydo last weak, was well kndwu an. this road.
