Barmecide cut out the work from Cypria, Callistrate, and La Fleche for a quarter of a mile, when the mare was pulled back into the rear. Without further change they passed the stand and rounded the Hotel turn, when Barmecide increased his commtnd, Cypria in the meanwhile widening the gap from Callistrato and Lo* Moor, of whom the last-named resumed his original position at the entrance to the old course. The others had cosed up, and Barmecide having held his own into the straight, he at once gave way to Cypria Her lead was short-lived, as at the foe; of the hill she res : gned to Callistrate and La Fleche, and witb the pair now drawing away by themselves the favourite sailed to tho front behind the distance and won in splendid style by three length- 1 , twice as far between second and third.
