The Association Game.

The return match between the Rangers and Queen's Park Clubs was played off on Saturday before a fair number of spectators. Despite the unpromising condition of the ground the game was fast and well contested throughout. Macdonald kicked off for the Park, and the Rangers at once rushed the ball to their opponents' goal. ' After some give-and-take play, in which the Park backs showed to some advantage, Sligo scored for the Rogers in good style. After the kick off Macdonald and Scott were in the van of the Park's attack, but the Rangers backß staved off the attack, and Gilbert, from half, scored their second goal. The ball was carried up and down without much advantage resulting until by some forward passing Churchill scored the third goal for the Rangers, and shortly afterwards the spell ended,

Throughout the second spell the play of Queen's Park was more open, and their passing more free. Frazer and Nicolsou on the extreme wings were well fed by the centres, Macdonald being as usual specially in evidence. Had Peters (in the Rangers goal) not been in such rare form the t Park's score must have mounted considerably. From a fast rush Churchill scored his second goal. The Park responded with a well-sustained rush to Rangers quarters and rushed the ball through, thus scoring their first goal. The remainder of the spell wa3 spent in rapid rushes, in which the staying powers of the forwards and the defensive powers of the backs were well tested. From a passing rush, in which Ashton figured, J. North scored the fifth goal for the Rangers, and shortly after this the whistle sounded. Mention should be made of the plucky games played by Macdonald and Hilgendorf at half back, although the other players were never far behind them. Mr Salmond kindly officiated as referee, and his decisions were promptly given and as promptly accepted. Special thanks are due to this gentleman for his services, which he rendered at considerable personal inconvenience.

The Northern Association Football Club journeyed to Sawyers' Bay to try conclusions with the Thistle, and to general surprise the match ended, after a very even and enjoyable game, in a draw, each side scoring five goals. The visitors were unfortunate in several of their players not putting in an appearance, but their places were ably filled by substitutes, of whom Elder and Montgomery played exceedingly well. Of tho backs the M'Leod brothers played a good game, and the White brothers were the pick of the forwards. The Thisblo also played a substitute. Of the backs Douglas and Bambary were the best. P. Ross greatly strengthened the forwards, and scored three oub of the five goals. Stewart and Middleditch also scored, and were well assisted by the rest of the forwards. The following up and dribbling of the visitors were euperior to that of the local team. Mr Groves acted as referee, and gave every satisfaction.

The Roslyn Second met the Zealandia Second at Roslyn, and after a fast game defeated them by 4 goals to 0. Calder, Gillespie, and Jackson (2) scored for the winners. Arlidge, Hutton, Smith, and Wise played well for the lo3erß.
