The new banking legislation formed the general topic of conversation on Saturday. In Dunedin the news was received very quietly, and appeared to have little or no effect on business. Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs : — " The news regarding the Bank of New Zealand was receiwd very philosophically, and banking business went on its course as usual, there being no excitement of any kind whatever."

local branch was even less lively than ÜBUal for a Saturday.
