They Help to Make the Man.
No one can wear shabby clothing if he wishes to impress strangers favourably. A politician of note whs ratoer careless in the matter of dress. Having occasion to call upon a prominent man residing in a di-tant quarter of his native city, he i-toppcd an Irishman in the fetteet to inquire the way.
" Can you tell me where Mr Hunter lives ? " he asked.
" It's no use your going there," was the unexpected reply.
" I didn't ask your advice," said the statesman ; "I simply want to know whore Mr Hunter lives "
" Oh, well, he lives down that street yonder, the first house round the corner ; but I tell you it's no use your going there, for I've just been there myself , and he's already got a man."
Mr Hunter had advertissd for a servant the day before. The lesson was not thrown away upon the statesman, for he went at once and bought a now hat.
