ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. Venetia.—l should think you ought to be pleased that your' hair shows such, vitality, instead of wishing to restrict its growth. Surely you can utilise it for a small fringe even if you do wear your hair higli up from the forehead. The effect would be to soften your face. There are several preparations for which it is claimed that they remove superfluous hairs, but I have never heard of their doing so in reality. One of these is Saundeis's oriental depilatory. You had much better make the most of your natural fringe, and not try experiments. Grace.—(l) The symptoms are scarcely those of consumption, but are more probably due to your general system being in a somewhat low condition. Take as much outdoor exercise as possible without exhausting yourself, and sleep with your window down a few inches. This and a tonic from a chemist would probably soon put you right again. Whatever you do don't sleep in a close, stuffy room, and be out of doors as much as possible. (2) The notion of had luck attaching to the breaking of a looking glass is a piece of silly superstition, and the black cat theory is equally as .stupid. Dolly.—(1) I shall endeavour to insert the various recipes you ask for in the Home Interests column in the course of a week or two. (2) See below. (3) Soap and water, but when they become yellow witli age and wear you cannot restore the colour. It is probably due to the fact of the fox having been killed while losing its coat instead of just after having got its winter coat. Lottie.—(l) It is probably due to indigestion. Eat only things which agree with you, and keep in the open air as much as possible. (2) There is no means of preventing the black lead being burnt off the top of a stove. (3) The following preparation for the teeth is well spoken of :— Dissolve 2oz borax iv three pints of water; before quite cold add one teaspoonful of tincture of myrrh and one tablespoonful of spirits of camphor ; bottle for use. A wineglassful of the solution added to half a pint of tepid water is sufficient for each application. (4) Either style will look well, both being worn.
