TIIE HARPERS' BANKRUPTCY.
Christchurch, June 28.
A special meeting of the creditors of Harper and Maude was held this morning to consider what steps should be taken with regard to the transfer of the trust funds, as commented upon iv the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal. The official assignee was taken to task for nofc having seen that the bankrupts should have gone before the court and applied for discharge within four months of the adjudication, and for not having information to lay before the meet* ing with regard to the trust accounts. Ib was ultimately decided to adjourn tho meeting for a week, and to request the oifisial assignee to prepare a coucise statement of the trust accounts and of the securities held by the Union Bank at the time of tho baukruptcy.
The anxiety oausod by the discovery that the fire hose at the Supreme Court buildings had been cut for a considerable length has been allayed by the fire inspector stating that he had condemned the hose, and cut it himself.
