FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Messrs Thomas Pateuson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manße street, report for the week ending June 27 : —
Fruit.— Market well supplied with apples, oranges, and pines, but pears are extremely scarce. The demand for all fruits is very poor, owing to the bitterly cold weather prevailing. Oranges : Sydney, 4s 6d to 53 ; Tahiti, 6s to 7s ; mandarins, 6s to 7s ;' lemons, 8s ; pines, if sound, 9a per case ; bananas, Id to 2d. Apples : Best Tasmanian range from 6a 6d to to 8s 6d ; Canterbury, 6s to 6s ; tomatoes, sd ; Peanuts, 2d ; walnuts, 6d ; cocoanuts, 20s per sack. Produce.— Eggs are more plentiful and easier in price. Fresh butter, 74d to lOd; prime salt has slow sale at 7id ; medium and inferior, 5d to6Jd. Bacon, 6Jd to 6?d. Hams, 7Jd to 9d. Pigs, 3ld to 4d. Cheese : Farmers', 4d to 4Jd ; dairy, 4jd ; factory, 4£d to sd. Honey, 3Jd to 4d. Beeswax, Is to Is Id. Potatoes : Derwents, £2 to £2 10s ; kidneys (for seed), £3 to £4. Onions, £11 10s. Carrots, 30s. Poultry :' In good demand ; ducks, 4s ; roosters, 3s to 33 6d ; hens, 2s 3d to 2s (3d ; turkeys, hens, 5d to s£d ; cocks, 6d to 6Jd.
