OTAKOI.
June 23 —The Wesleyans held a tea meeting in the Kaik Hall on the 15th inst. There was a very good attendance of the public, although the night was rather wet. A number of visitors came by the s.s. Onslow from town, and altogether there must have been fully 100 persons present.' After ' the tea and other good things provided had been done ample justice to, a musical programme was carried out very successfully ; while during the intervals between the musical items speeches were given by the Rev. Mr Salter and Mr Torrance, and by Miss Raeburn and Messrs Stevens, Jago, and Phillips. The latter gentleman acted an chairman during the evening Miss Jago rendered a solo, and Misses Peake and Jago a duet, Miss Peake acting as accompanist. The other performers were Miss Wilson, Miss L. Wilson, and a choir of local singers under the leadership of Mr Waltzgott. Before leaving, for town the visitors were treated to more refreshments by their local friends. I have not heard the financial result of the " meeting," but as the tickets were Is (id each, no doubt there must have been a balance "on the right side of the ledger."
