Notes from Wakatipu.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Aurowtown, June 21.— Mr D. Miller, manager of the Londonderry Sluicing Company, Upper Shotovcr, has accepted the tender of Messrs Duulop Brothers, at 39s 9d per foot, for driving 150 ft rock tunnel tail race to tap the centre of the terrace.

The Achilles Goldticlds last wash-up (last week) went loz per ton. Splendid gold is going down underfoot in No. 3 level, and the prospects of the mine are exceedingly good, and arc keeping quite up to the expectations formed some time ago. The Gallant Tipperary wash-up last ■week yielded just lOdwt to tlio ton, the cake weighing 970z of retorted gold. Considering the small cost at which the quartz is raised, this is a paying yield. Four men will be kept on for the winter stoping out for an early crushing next spring, while two men will bo put on to prospect intermediate level, with every chance of soon meeting a surface make of stone that under Tom Hall's management went 23dwt to the ton at the Exhibition machine in 1890.
