NECKER ISLAND.
j, Auckland, Juno 22. News per mail states that the Hawaiian Provisional Government have annexed Necker Island, a small, barren, rocky island about 460 miles north-weat of Honolulu. The British, warship Champion left Hawaii on May 25 to annex the island, and it was supposed that shortly afterwards the Government of Hawaii sent the steamer Twilani in hot haste to reach the island first and to annex it before the Champion arrived. The Twilani arrived at the island alone, ib being found subsequently fchafc the Champion did not go to Necker afc all. Captain King, Minister for the Interior, hoisted the Hawaiian flag on the rock. After a short Btay the steamer returned to Honolulu. Hawaii now claims possession of the whole group of isles -which stretch to the north-weat, claiming that they constitute geographically part of the group. The expedition of the Btoamer caused some excitement at Honolulu.
