CHEATING AT CARDS.
• A suit for libel was finished at Cork, Ireland, on May 22, in which many members of the best society of that city were implicated. The Case attracted attention because it brought to light a scandal which in many respects resembled the notorious Tranby Croft gambling scandal in which Sir William Gordon Cumming was accused of cheating at baccarat. In the Cork case, Joseph Trike bronght a suit, against Captain Bemish claiming £5000 for slander consisting in accusations by Bemish that plaintiff had cheated at cards.
