The tie for the May competition for the Otago Golf Club's St. Andrew's cross between Dr Shand and Mr C. W. Rattray was played on the 16th inst., and resulted in a win for Dr Shand, who played a remarkably steady round of 90, whioh, with his handicap of four strokes, left him with 86 net. Mr Rattray made a very good fight of it with 91 (97—6) . The greens were very heavy or bpfch players would doubtless have gone round in smaller figures. Last Saturday the June competition was held, and attracted a large field. The greens were again heavy, owing to the rain, and there was a rather strong wind blowing, but Mr Rattray, despite these drawbacks, was able to show that he was still in good form by handing in a net score of 83 (89—6), which proved far too good for the rest of the field. Dr Ogston (8 strokes) and Mr Rose (2 strokes) tied for second place with 89 net (97—8 and 91—2). The following were the scores up to 100 net : —
