creditors' petition.
The Hon. J. MacGregor appeared before thecourt in support of a petition by Reid and Gray to have Thomas Gordon, the younger, farmer, of Maungatua, adjudicated a bankrupt. Thepetition set forth that the said Thomas Gordon was indebted to the petitioners in the sum of £50 18s lOd, being the amount of a judgment? recovered against him in the Magistrate's ourb of Dunedin iv May last ; that he had committed an available act of bankruptcy inasrauoh as the petitioners having obtained judgment, and execution thereon cot having beoa stayed, they caused to bo issued on Gordon tha prescribed notice requiring him to pay the judgment deb* or to secure or compound for it to tee satisfaction of the petitioners or the court, and he had not within seven days af tvr the eerviee of tbo notice either complied wi h the requirements of the notice or satisfied the court that he had a counter claim or set-off which equalled or exceeded the amount of the judgment debt. The petition further stated that the petitioners had no security for tho debt. They therefor© prayed that the debtor might be adjudicated a bankrupt.
The debtor appeared personally and consented to the order, and was accordingly adjudged bankrupt.
