AUCKLAND COURSING MEETING.
The June meeting of the Auckland Cour3ing Club was commenced atAvondale Plumptonon June 13. About 400 persons were on the ground. The hares ran strongly, so much so, indeed, that the coursiujj was all in their favour, and only about eight were killed during the da>'s coursing. Tho various courses were for the most part highly interesting. Tho Australian dog Verdi was from the first a hot favourite, but his first course with a local dog, Couranto, was so well contested by the latter as to leave it in doubt for some time which had won. The local dog had all the beet of it in the run up, and in first working, but Verdi got in and obtained the award of the judge. The south'ruowned dogs all ran well. The final result of theChallenge Stakes is still a very open question, as eight dogs remain in for the fiuishing courses— namely, Bequeath. Ivona, White Star, Sweetwater, Storm Fiend, Here's to 'Ec, Verdi, Rock Ball For the All-aged Stakes there were oaly four acceptors, and the followiug are the results : — Hard Case bait Lady Smuggler, Tho Vicar boat Juliet. In tha run-off Vicar beat Hard Cas% and won the concluding course. June 16. The following are the finals : — Challenge Stakes.— First prize £50, second £22, third £10. Mr J. Forward's (Auckland) Sweetwater (Rod Pine— Pine Hut) 1, Mr S. Meyer's (Melbourne) Verdi (High Thorn— Curagoa) runner-up, Storm Fiend 3. ■Consolation Stakes. Mr Blaikie's Kotiro (Blue Cap— Belinda) and Mr J. Jerome'd Ducia (High Thorn— Curacoa) divided. Auckland All aged Stakes. Mr J. W Rusaell's (Auckland) Shylock (Padlock—Spruce) 1, Mr Wood's Tickle (Obstacle— Snowflight) runner-up. Kingscand All-aged Stakes. Mr Blaikie's Major (Blue Cap -Ruby) l f Mr J. Hotnan's Hubina (Bluo Cap -Ruby) runner-up.
Waikomiti All-aged Stakes.
Mr Blaikie's Kotiro and Mr J Baker'd Despised (Thane well Duke— Pe'.i) divided. The judging was very satisfactory.
