CLIFDEN.
*i. ow -,T A n accident occurred at the ferry on the Slat ult. Mr James King was taking across a dray and two rams when the current caused the boat to lurch, and the dray and rams went overboard, Mr King nearly sharing their fate. The rams got out. but Mr King lost his dray, overcoat, and some other articles of wearing apparel. The ferryman is a most careful man. All this goes to justify the position taken up by tho settlers as recorded in the Witness of the 31st ult., in their urgent request to the Government to put up tho bridge at once. The ground was taken up on this very condition, and it was expected that long before this the settlers would have had a safe and convenient access to their homes.
