BABY JACK.
It is just two years to-day, dear, Since you came— a sunbeam bright— And I envied nor king nor queen, dear, As you lay next my heart that night. But little I wist you had strayed, dear, From your home in the heaven of love, To show me how blest are the children Who live in God's kingdom above. Sombre and dark grew the skies, dear, As my sunbeam faded away ; The bright in my web of life, dear, Seemed turned into ashen grey. I know all is well with you now, dear— I know, yet my heart aches on For your loving wee arms about me, And your sweet baby voice, little son. Some day, perchance, you will come, dear. And whisper low to my heart : " The Master has sent for you, mother ; Come home with me, never to part." Ghristchurch, June 1. — Mother.
