HIGH SCHOOLS BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

The monthly meeting of the High Sohools Board of Governors was held on Thursday and attended by the Rev. A. R. Fitchett (chairman), Messrs G G. Russell, H. Clark, M. Fraer, James Allen, M.HE., and his Worship the Mayor (Mr H. S. Fish). In accordance with notice of motion given at a meeting on the 6th inst , Mr JPbakb moved— " That tho Rev. A. R. Fitchett bo appointed chairman of the Bjard of Governors for the current year." The motion was agreed to. Cuiibideration of an application from Messrs Wright, Stephonsou, and Co. for a trausfer of lease No. 38, Mokoreta, was postponed until a special meeting of the board, to bo held on Thursday next. A momo. was read from tho Publis Works department, Dunedin, to the effect that the work of fencing the railway line on Messrs Buckland and Kinnuy's runs at Strath-Taiori was iv hand. — Received. Consideration of a report from tho committee appointed at a previous meeting with reference to the proposed examination of the schools was postponed till the special meeting to be held on Thursday next. v Mr J. C. Buckland, the lessee of run 205b, wrote applying for a rebate on part of the current half-year's rent. — It wan decided to inform the applicant that the board had no power to make a refund. A number of transfers of leases were consented to. The Strath-Taieri School Committee wrote applying for permission to go through Mr Jamieson's leasehold at Strath-Taieri tor the purpose of obtaining gravel from the bed of the river. — It was decided to inform tho conr.rnittee that the board had no authority to interfere ia the maltrr.
