Both New Zealanders fenced beautifully, for the greater part of the journey, and Mutiny had secured a lead of over 100 yds en entering the last round, when he came down. Waterbury met the same fate a little later on. Time, 7min 13sec. WINTER STAKES, Of 400sovs. One mile and a-quarter. Mr H. Oxenham's Pilot Boy by Gozo—Kathleen, 9.3 1 Mr W. R. Hall's Oxide, 8.12 2 Mr T. Lamond'B Albecore, 8.2 3 Seventeen started. Won easily. Time, 2min lOsec.
