PRESENTATION.

A large gathering of the friends of Mr J. W, Wright was held at Barn's Hotel, last Thursday evening, to bid him good-bye on the occasion of severing his connection with the Mutual Agency Company of Dunedin to join the firm of Messrs King and Co., of Ohristchurch, as auctioneers. Mr John Grindley was voted to the chair, and after referring to Mr Wright's many good qualities presented him (on behalf of a few admiring friends) with a handsome gold albert chain. In asking those present to drink Mr Wright's health and success in his new position, the ob airman said he felt sure he spoke for not only those present but also for many farmers and others with whom Mr Wright had been brought into contact, while he expressed regret at their guest's departure. Mr Lachlan Maclean referred to his happy associations with Mr Wright in business during the five years that gentleman had been in Otago, aud eaid that although they would all miss him very much they were pleased to know that his departuie meant promotion.
