Notes from Preservation Inlet. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

Considerable excitement is now existing here owing to the rich finds of alluvial gold on Crayfish Island.

Bradshaw and party obtained in a period of nine days no less than 440z, and amongst this was a beautiful nugget of 13ioz. Other claim owners are also doing well. The reefing claims are also developing well, and good gold-bearing stone is reported to have been found in the Surprise reef, which is said to be making into the next claim— the Lucky Shot. The Monarch, a new reef lately found near Kisbee, and close to the sea, is likely to prove a very rich one, and the whole of the line of reef is now pegged off right down to the sea shore of the inlet ; but this is kept very quiet at present.
