STOCK SALES IN CENTRAL OTAGO.

Messrs Wright, Stefiienson, and Co. report as follows : — Hill's Creek.— On Tuesday, 6th inst., at Messrs Rosa and Glendining's yards (kindly lent for the occasion) we offered about 2500 sheep and a few head of cattle. Two things militated against this sale and that held the following day being as successful as could have been wished — viz., (I) the fact that broken weather had greatly hindered shearing opsrations, which, in many cases, are not yet over ; and (2) the fine weather of the past week having_ rendered it necessary that farmers should pay immediate attention to their crops, and for this reason some who would either have been sellers or buyers were absent. These drawbacks notwithstanding a fair amount of business was done in crossbred sheep, but the merinos did not find buyers, prices not coming up to vendors' expectations. The cattle offered sold remarkably well. Wedderburn.— The day following there was, for the reasons already given, a small entry for our sale at this place. The consignments forward, both of sheep and cattle, realised full values. Kyeburn.— (Jon-idering the early date fixed for our first hale for this season, there was a very fair muster of stock, and certainly the attendance of settlers was very encouraging, and the amount of business transacted satibfactorv.
