DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the committee of the Duuedin Jockey Club was held on Tuesday and attended by .the Hon. 6. M'Lean (in the chair), Messrs Meenan, Miller, Hazlett, Stephenson, Cook, Gourley, L. Maclean, and Reid. The report of the Totalisator Committee, stating that they had arranged with Messrs Mason and Roberts to work the club's totalisators for the ensuing year, was received and adopted. The report contained a recommendation that at the Anniversary meeting the outside totalisator bo reduced 10s. The Works Committee reported having mot and accepted tenders for painting, repairs, and asphalting at the racecourse. The Chairman reported that in accordance with the resolution passed at last meeting he had made arrangements with Mr J. Creswsll to act as starter for the Autumn meeting. Tendore for catering for the gruud etaud booths for the year woro received, and it was resolved that that of Mrs Braun be accepted. A letter wan received from the Gore Club in reply to a resolution passed at last meeting asking for an explanation of Buddiconibc's riding at the last Gore meeting. — It was resolved — "That the matter remain open for further consideration." The Gore Club enclosed a letter from Mr S. Richardson,' who had taken a ticket on two horses coupled together at their last meeting. — It was resolved to inform the club that it was a matter for themselves to settle, and to refer them to rale No. 7 of the totalisator. The Palmerston Club wrote asking that Walter Buddicombe be suspended from riding for neglecting to pay a fine imposed upon him on December 20. — It was resolved th it ho be suspended from riding until tho lino bo paid. The Secretary reported that at 9.55 a.m. on the 12th inst. he received a letter from the D.I.C. containing a telegram addressed "Secretary, D.J.C., Dunedin." The said telegram contained a nomination from Mr R. J. Mason for Melinite for the Flying Handicap, the nominations for the race closing on Saturday at 10 p.m. The secretary also read the following explanation from Mr Lubecki, of the Telegraph department : — Sir,— ln reply to your inquiry, I beg to say that the telegram from Mr 11. J. Mason, Christchurch, was received here on Saturday night, addressed "Secretary D.J.0., Dunedin." The envelope was plainly addressed as above and given to the messenger to deliver, but I regret to say the lad read it as " D.7.C.," and delivered the message to the D.I.C. Whilst regretting this mistake I would take tho liberty of pointing out that had Mr Mason addressed the message " Dunedin Jockey Club " the error ccuhl not have occurred, as the envelope would then have been addressed in full. Mr James further stated that he had informed Mr Stead that his telegram having gone astray through an error of the Telegraph department, the entry was too late to be received. A letter was received from Mr Matthew Barnetfc, asking for the removal of the disqualification imposed upon him by the Palmerston Club. It was resolved that the disqualification be removed. Several new members were elected. It was resolved that five booths only be sqjd at 'the sale of booths advertised to take place on the 15th inst.
