EGMONT RACES.

Hawera, February 14. Beautiful weather prevailed for the races to-day, and there was a large attendance. The following are the results : — Waimate Handicap, of 60aovs. Seven furlongs.—St. Laura, 8.7, 1; Freelance, 7.2, 2; Swordbelt, 8.3, 3. Lottie, TJa, and Variety also started. Won all the way. Time, lmin 33sec. Dividend, £4 ss. Hurdle Race, of lOOsovs. Two miles and a distance.— Couranto, 12.8, 1 ; Vasco, 9.13, 2. Vaaco fell at the second hurdle and was taken to the paddock. Couranto baulked at the next jump and Vasco was then remounted and joined in the race, but Couranto won comfortably, although he waited for Vasco. Time, smin 15sec. Dividend, £1 10s. Hack Hurdles.- Cingalee, 10.7, 1; Tramore, 10.0, 2 ; Pumau, 10.7, 3. Won by half a length. Time, 2min 17? sec. Dividend, £7 2s. Egmont Handicap. — Rosefeldt, 8.9, 1 ; Royal Rose, 7.1, 2 ; Pill, 6.7. 3. Musket, Noyade, Spinfeldt, Prioress, Coalscuttle, and_ Primrose also ran. Won by a length and a-half. Time, 3min 43 3-ssec. Dividend, JE3 13s. Sapling Stakes.— Pompom, 9.1, 1 ; The Friar, 810, 2; Maluri, 8.5, 3. Three others started. Time, linin 224-ssec. Dividend, £1 14s. Hack Flat Race —Hark 1, Cyrus and Whiffler a dead heat. Dividend, £20 125. Welter Handicap.— Kent, 9.11, 1 ; Variety, 8.7, 2; Musket, 9.10. 3. An excellent finish. Time, lmin 47? sec. Dividend, £1 17s.
