TUTURAU.
AuGUtyt 14.— The weather has been of a mixed character during the past month— wind, snow, frost, and rain alternating. This has rather' retarded ploughing and other farming operations. Arbor Day.— Arbor Day in this neighbourhood was a very wet one, and consequently passed off in a quiet mannerT Very little interest seems to be taken in planting, although the native bush will soon be a thing of the past, the greater' portion of it 'having been' cut down within the last four or five years. - ■ Measles.— This disease appeared amongst some of the younger' members of the community about" three weeks ago, but doe 3 not seem to be spreading very quickly. Although the attendance at the district school is very low, it has not been thought expedient to close it. Rai)bit,S;— Bunny has had a bad time of it in > this district lately, all the farmers having gone in 7 strongly for poisoning. Some of them have been trying toxa and poisoned jam, but nothing seems to answer the purpose so well as the poisoned
