The English Championship meeting was held on July 1. The following particulars of the events aro taken from the Athletic News :-£

After going 50yds Bournes's pump came off, and interfered with Wade, who stopped, the pair taking no further part in the race. Millett made the running, with Fowler and Lutyens in close company, and Bacon last.
