Wellington, August 3. The imports for the quarter were valued at £1,555,586, against £1,413,087 last year. Auckland imported goods to the value of £290,075 ; Wellington, £514,163 ; Christchurch, £287,175 ; Dunedin, £276,892. The exports last quarter were valued at £2,220,138, against £2,210,051 for the corre-. spondiog quarter of 1892. Auckland exported £270,117; Wellington, £269. 557; Christchurch, £528,124 ; Dunedin, £357,622. The population of New Zealand on the 30th June, exclusive of Maoris, was 660,542, being 351,040 males and 309,502 females. The Maori population was estimated at 41,993, making a grand total of 702,535. The Savings Bank returns show that during the quarter ended 30th June 8039 accounts were opened and 4948 closed, the excess of deposits over withdrawals being £188,260. For the same period last year the excess was only £18,161. BAILWAY BETUBNS. The following are the railway returns for the four weeks ending June 24 : —
