THE EDUCATIONAL DEADLOCK.
Nelson, August 3. The educational deadlock created a good deal of excitement to-day. The premises wereseoured by the Education Board and were opened by the inspector, the newly appointed head master being the only teacher to attend. No boys attended the school. To-night a monster meeting was held, at which several members of the committee spoke, and one member of the board, Dr Mackie. A resolution was carried cordially approving of the action of the committee, and expressing a hope that they will continue to vindicate their rights. A second resolution urged that the time has arrived for the abolition of the Education Board — town committees to carry out the duties in town, and county' councils in the country districts ; the inspectors to be under the department, and removable at least every two years.
