Game 2039—" Defiance."

Brodie's Tour. Aa an outcome of the announce-" ment that Mr D. A. Brodie was willing to make arrangements for a visit to country districts/ Beveral clubs have invited' him to test their skill over the board. Accordingly Brodie has planned as follows :— Thursday, August 10 : Lawrence Draughts Club, Borough Council Chambers.; Friday, 11th: Waitahuna. Saturday, 12th : To arrange for Lawrence or Waitahuna. Monday, 14th : Waiwera. Tuesday and Wednesday, 15th and 16th : To be arranged for. Thursday, 17th : Arrive at Mataur*. From Mataura Brodie will visit Mandeville, Balfour, and Lumsflun ; these districts to receive due notice of the date of his arrival. Goro, Wyndham, or other districts wishing to meet Brodie may do so by writing at once,

addressing him care* of Mr J. S. Shankp, jun , Mataura. Mr Brodie. has been compelled to forego his proposed visit to Queenstown and adjacent districts. It is to be hoped every player who can will take advantage of this opportunity of testing his skill with a first-class player, and creating increased interest in the game, which is evidently needed at the present time. An account of the tour will appear in this column, with all of the games of interest.
