(a) Instead of this, the move of B x Q Xt P was introduced by Zukertort in 1869, but has since been shown to result in" favour of Black in every variation. (b) This is probably the best move for Black, but he may also play .10... P-B tf, which leaves Black with a slight advantage. (c) The authorities agree that 10 P-K 5 is the strongest move for White. (d) 15 QB-KB 4 seems stronger. If 15. ..Q x P eh, then 16 B-Kt 3. If 15 ..QR 8, then 16 K-B 2 seems to prevent Black gaining any advantage. The position is very critical and difficult to analyse. (?) White regains the exchange presently, but 17 B-K3 would enable White to bring O R into play more speedily, and in this opening rapid development is essential. . (/) Compulsory ; but it leaves Black with the superior force, and White's attack exhausted. (0) White makes a gallant resistance to the superior force of his adversary, but as he must lose the isolated pawns the end can easily be foreseen. (A) P-B 4 seems better.
