OUR VOLUNTEERS.
At the Engineers' orderlyroom on the evening of the 12th, the first of a course of instruction in limelight signalling was given by Chief Petty- officer Facey, of the Torpedo Corps. The laboratory portion of the work was chiefly dealt with— the preparation and heafciDg of the retort, manufacture of the gas, filling of the bags, adjustment of the lamp, &c. being gone through and fully explained. It is intended that this work will in future form a regular part of the signalling instruction. One candidate was balloted for and elected to the membership of the corps. At a meeting of the Amusement Committee a number of arrangements were made which should tend to still further increase the interest which members already take in their corps.
