LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board held on Wednesday wasattended by Messrs J. P. Maitland, (chief commissioner), W. H. Clark, J. Duncan, and A. M'Kerrow.

Blackstone.— Mr Samuel Hanger applied for a license to occupy, for grazing purposes, section 13, block V, Blackstone district.— The license was granted for a yearrunder section 116 of the act, for grazing purposes only, at 9d per acre ; license fee, £1 Is. Mr W. A. Johnstone wrote requesting that he be allowed valuation for fencing between sections 1 and 2, block 111, Blackstone district, and small grazing Run 2241.— 1n the event of applicant not being successful in obtaining small grazing Run 2241, provision of Fencing Act enabled him to obtain half cost of boundary fence from occupier of run, or an interest in same.

Greenvale.— The Undersecretary for Lands forwarded a letter from Mr William M'Kay in connection with section 8, block XV, Greenvale district.— Mr A. C. Martin appeared on behalf of Mr M'Kay. —The board could not see its way to alter its previous decision in the matter.— — fhe Receiver of Land Revenue reported that Andrew M'Kenzle, whose perpetual leases Nos. 274 and 2751 Greenvale district, were declared forfeited on April 5, had now paid all arrears.— The resolution forfeiting the leases was rescinded.

Swinburn.— Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of John Eawcliffe, applied under section 114 of the Land Act for 450 acres, part of section 4, block VIII, Swinburn.— The application was declined. Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of the Swinburn Farm Homestead Association, applied for a license to occupy for grazing, purposes the 200 acres of Crown lands in block VII, Swinburn district, fronting sections 5, 11, and 12.— License to issue for one year, renewable under section 116 of the act, on condition that the association undertakes the destruction of rabbits ; yearly rental, ss. Manioxoto.— An application by John Hore to transfer his perpetual lease section 12, block 111, Maniototo district, to R. S. F. Inder was apP Kurow.— The following applications to complete purchase were approved:— D. Simpson, section 28, block VII. Kurow i D. Simson, section 8, block 111, same district. Gimmerburn and Maniototo. —Mr James Hore requested the board to allow him to take up small grazing Run No. 225, Gimmerburn, or small grazing run, section 2, block XVII, Maniototo district, without competition.— The board had no power to do what was required. Mr Mark Roberts applied for a rehearing of his application, under section 115 of the act, for section 2, block XII, Gimmerburn district.—Consideration of the application was deferred until sections

in block XII were being dealt with along with the adjoining land. Maerewhenua.— Mr J. G. M'Quade applied for exemption from residence on small grazing run, section 1, block XVI, Maerewhenua district. —The application was granted. Messrs R. B. Martin and Son, on behalf of George Campbell, applied to purchase, under perpetual lease, section 33, block X, Maerewhenua district.—Recommended for Minister's approval ; no further rent | to be charged under the circumstances. Ladder.— The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that Mr J. C. Harrington, whose perpetual lease No. 493, Lauder district, was declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears.— The resolution j forfeiting the lease was rescinded. Woodland.— Mr P. Chalmer, on behalf of William Leal, applied to transfer 100 acres of perpetual lease, section 14, block VII, Woodland dis. trict, to Robert Warnock.— The application was/ approved, subject to additional survey fees beinr paid ; the chief surveyor ,to have survey effected., —Mr George Page applied for the grazing right over section 21, block IV, Woodland district,bush reserve, the application was declined. A memo, was received from, the Surveyorgeneral in regard to the price put upon land in blocks V and VI, Woodland district.—Consideration of the matter was deferred. Wakatipu.— Mr P. Chalmer, on behalf of Mr G. S. Fulton, applied to be allowed to surrender Runs No 345b and 346 c, Wakatipu district.— lt was resolved that the Governor be recom-" mended to authorise the Commissioner of Crown Lands to accept surrender of the runs in question, the rent being in the opinion of the board excessive ; also with the view of the runs being offered with adjoining additional unoccupied surveyed lands. Miscellaneous Applications.— The following applications were approved:— For rural land on. lease in perpetuity : S. Barber, section 68, block VI, Clarendon district; James Parker, section 16, block IV, Glenkenich district. To complete purchase of deferred payment land: W. D. Mason, section 19, block X. Strath-Taieri. To exchange agricultural lease for lease in perpetuity : Mark Roberts, sections 19 and 20, block VI. Gimmerburn district. To exchange perpetual lease for lease in perpetuity: John Mulholland, jun., section 24a, block VI, Gimmerburn district. To transfer perpetual lease : R. H. Catherwood to' Alfred Catherwood, section 24, block 11, Catlins. Shotover.— Messrs Reid and Hazel applied for a license to occupy one acre of section 86, block V, Shotover district, for the purpose of erecting a sheep dip thereon.— A letter from the Lake County Council in connection therewith was also received. Consideration of the application was deferred, a3 copy of the county councils letter to be forwarded to the applicants. Teviot.— Mr D. Manuel, the lessee of small grazing Run 199e, Teviot district, wrote, complaining that the occupation license granted to Mr M. M'Donald had taken away the frontage of the run, and requesting that the occupation license be cancelled, and the area added to Run 199E.— The board could not see its way at present to recommend any action being taken with regard to the matter. "■ Sutton.— Messrs R. B. Martin and Son applied, on behalf of Mr P. Spratt, for a license to occupy portion of forest reserve north of sections 3 and 4, block XIII, Sutton district, under section 116 of the act.— A yearly license was granted under , section 116 of the act, at 6d per acre, on the condition that rabbit destruction is undertaken.
