v "ir* I< i^" A - XcX cr y successful concert was given by Mrs Mitchell to the employes on Olydevale station on the night of Saturday, Bthinst. Miss Patrick, of Dunedin, and the Misses Smith, of M-* 6 K fi n d ' £ ay , c valu «* 1 <» assistance. Mrs a lelll ell $je81(&d«.j e81( & d «. t* 3 he » iaDO - and the overture was by Mr B Mitchell and Miss Patrick. Miss bmith then sang very feelingly "The three fishers. MrThomsongave "The Friars of Orders Grey, and inreply to an encore repeated the last Verse. Miss Watson and Miss Wyatt sang a duet, ? K wi ?S 2S d th , e h S r <?>" and Miss Watson also contributed the solos." Strangers yet " and " Bide awee, for which she received a hearty round of applause. Miss Wyatt sang " Killarney," accompanied by Mr Dunlop on the violin. In answer to an encore she gave "Comin' through the rye." Mr Scott sang " The march of the Cameron men," and Mr Copeland followed with a selection of Highland airs on the violin. Miss Patrick, who possesses a clear and pleasant voice, sang " Kate O'Shane," and was followed by a pianoforte duet, War march of priests," by the Misses Smith. "Herr Formes" gave "The anchor's weighed." The company sang "The old folks athome." Miss Wyatt, who took the leading part, followed with White wings. The gem of the evening came in a duet "No, sir," between Miss Patrick and Mr Carrick, who were loudly encored, and on return, ing repeated the last yerse. Mr A. Smith sang, A , British soldier's grave," and Miss Wyatt followed with " Barney O'Hea." Mr Dunlop gave "Robin Tamson's smiddy," and Messrs Whiston ana .Low also each gave a song. A (very pleasant evening was brought to a close with the National iSr*!™. 1 when three ringing cheers were given for MrsjMitchell, the employes being indebted to her for a most enjoyable evening. Hearty cheers were awarded to the ladies for their very able assistance and to the gentlemen who contributed to the night's amusement. A vote of thanks to Mr Oamck for presiding brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
