At a meeting of the North Otago Acclirriah'sation Society, held on Friday last, Mr .Aitkeu drew attention to the necessity for deciding on what should be done with the young salmon in the hatchirg house. He had been speaking to Mr Butler, of Gilstone, on the matter and that gentleman had promised to drive members of the society up the Hakateramea river in order to see the streams up there, which he thought very suitable for the purpose If they preferred to send the young fish up he would see that the fish were placed in the best stream for the purpose. It was Mr Aitken's opinion thab about one half the young fish could bo dealt with in this way, and the other half could remain at the hatcheries for a short time.
