HUNTING.

"Hunter" writes as follows :—" Sir,— X noticed in the sporting columns of the Witness last week a paragraph to the effect that Mr E. H. Hart had sold his interest in the Dunedin hounds and had nothing to do with the present club. There are a few sports in Dunedin, and I am with them, who would like Mr Hart to explain why he has the privilege to sell what is practically a subscription pack of hounds ? Ib is a well-known fact that some seven or eight years ago these hounds were in the possession of Mr W. H. Taggart, and up to the time of Mr Hart's connection with them that gentleman hunted them at his own expense. I never heard that Mr Hart purchased an interest in the pack, nor did I bear that he had in any way recouped Mr Taggart for his outlay. When these facts are taken into consideration, and also that the Jockey Club and the Dunedin public have helped to keep this pack going, does it not seem strange that Mr Hart should have the privilege to sell ? Perhaps Mr Harb will explain." [We have shown the above to Mr Harb, who declines to answer any anonymous inquirers. — Ed. O. W.]
