THE SEAWARD BUSH RAILWAY.

Invercakgill, June 12.

A conference of Vigilance Oommitteea in connection with the construction of the Seaward Bush railway met at Fortrose this evening. About 50 citizens went from bere. This railway, projected in the provincial days, is now completed for 13 miles, and strong efforts are being made to induce the Government to carry it a few miles further and bridge the Mataura river, when the line would tap a rich agricultural district. At present the line does not pay, as it mostly runs through a worked out bush. The conferecca passed a resolution urging on the Government the necessity of completing the railway to a paying point. A banquet was afterwards held, at which the Colonial Treasurer was present and made a spsecb.
