DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Saturday's Quotations.

DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.

THE LABOUR MARKET.

INVEROARGILL STOCK SALES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Invercargill, June 13. There was only a moderate entry of stock at the Invercargill Kaleyards to-day. Fat stock waa in strong demand, the primest beef selling at up to 24s per 1001b, medium from 203 to 225. In store cattle very few were yarded, and showed no quotable change in values. A very good line of fat sheep, maiden ewes and wetheis, brought 18s 2d; while ordinary and heavy fat ewes sold at lls to 14s Id. Good lambs were worth 9a to 10s ; medium, 7s to 8s 6d; sound young breeding ewes, 13s to 14s ; and forwardcondition stores, suitable for turnip-feeding, mixed sexes, 12s 6'd to 14s 6d.

Weekly Report. Messrs Wright, StepheivSON, and Co. report as follows :— • Owing to the very rough weather very few horses were entered for our weekly sale on Saturday, and some of those that were did not come forward. The attendance was very small, and as it consisted mostly of the owners of the horsea and refugees from snowballers very few sales weie effected. In the absence of sales we repeat our quotations of last week, which are:—For first-class draughts (extra heavy), £25 to £30; good ordinary draughts (young), £18 to £22; medium draughts, £12 to £16; aged draughts, £6 to £10; good hacks and harness horses, £12 to £16; medium hacks and harness horses, £7 ts £9; light and inferior hacks and harness horses, £210s to £5.

Mr Skene reports under date June 33 :— King Winter means business this time, having put down his foot in real earnest. Deep snow means a fullstop to all outdoor work, and a great many are ill-prepared to stand a siege : but this will not last long, and business will improve with fine weather. Farm, station, and dairy people are always wanted ; rabbiters are now in full swing, but the late storm hit them very hard. Rabbiting is not all a " bed of roses.' Late wages keep very fair for the right sort of country workers.
