THE WOODVILLE ILLEGALLY OPERATING CASE.
Wellington, December 16.
In the Supreme Court to-day Syms, choraist,, of Woodville, charged with performing an, illegal operation, gave a general denial to Mra Hall's statements. A night watchman at Woodville, named Ware, stated that Dr Davenport had said to him at the end of February: " I'll have that old rascal Syms out of this yet ; mark my words." Mr Edwards, in addressing the jury, contended that no evidence had been adduced to ohow that Syms was guilty of the alleged crime. At 3.40 the jury retired, and at 6.25 returned with a verdict of "Not guilty," and accused was discharged. -
The Aparima river is to be thrown open for trout fishing.
