Auckland, August 30. The following foaliuga are announced :— Mx T. Morrin's Ouida, brown filly by Hotchkiss, threequarter sister to Strathmore ; Mr L. D. Nathan's Brassolis, a chestnut filly to St. Leger; Mr Alison's Mystery, a brown filly to Brigadier.

Major George's mare Fiesole visits Nelson this season.

The committee of the Auckland Racing Club held a meeting last Friday and finally dealt with the programme for next 6eason. < After discussion it was agreed not to cut down the distance of the Auckland Cup as suggested, and it will therefore remain at two miles. It was further agreed by the committee that the stake and conditions of the Summer Steeplechase shall remain the same as last year. Mr Percival has issued a circular to the secretaries of all clubs under the A.R.C.'s jurisdiction, requesting them to furnish particulars of their intended meetings during the season. It" is also intended to carry into effect the second paragraph of Rule 22 of the Metropolitan Rules of Racing, which says— "The programme when submitted shall be accompanied, if required, by a properlyaudited balance sheet, showing the receipts and expenditure of the club for the past year, and in no case shall any programme be passed unless it clearly appears from the balance sheet that all moneys received by the club have been expended in stakes, making improvements to the course and stands, or payment for interest and sinking fund on purchase money, or generally in the interests of racing." Major George contemplates leaving for Sydney by the s.s. Talune on Wednesday, in order to see his colt The Workman perform at the A.'J.C. meeting, which opens at llandwick on the 10th prox. The Workman has been allotted 8.8 in tho Epsom Handicap (one mile), and 8.6 in the Metropolitan Stakes (one mile and a-half). It having been represented to the committee of the A.R.C. that the date selected for tho second day of the second springmeeting would clash with that of the Auckland Agricultural Society's exhibition, that body have decided to alter the date of the meeting, and it will now bo held on the 9th and 10th November instead of on the 9th and 12th.

There are a couple of commissions in the* market, one with a view to the purchase of Patchwork for stud purposes, and the other for Ingorina for racing. The imported thoroughbred hunting sire Paddy's Land is this season to take up quarters at Sylvia Park. Waikato sportsmen willhavepleuty of stallions to choose from this season, as Gipsy King, Flintlock, Raglan, and Cap-a-pie, and the trotting stallion Ba'derdash will travel the different districts Five stallions are announced to stand at , Wellington Park this season. The listß of Cuirassier and Hotchkiss are full, but Castor, St. Leger, and Tasman are at the service of the public. In Auckland Vogengang and Prime Warden are quoted equal favourities at 8 to 1 for the New Zealand Cup. Mr G. Thorp's Billingsgate leaves for Gisborne next Thursday. He is in splendid condition to begin the season, and if fairly patronised should get some splendid jumping stock. I have had the pleasure of interviewing Major Mair's filly Heart of Oak, by Nelson from Corcyra, and I feel inclined to think that she is the finest looking filly the old Cup hero has yet sired. Major George s Calvi by Nelson from the Maid, is, I am pleased to say, in work again, as is also i Swiftsurc, by Nelson from Tenambra. The former of these two was proved'a flier, but- went wrong in the feet. Harrison has made a complete cure, and should she stand training Calvi will worthilyuphold the honour of the black and white hoops. Trainers arecomplaininggreatly about the state of the tracks at Ellerslie. The bad weather lias a great deal to do with it, but as the weather has broken fast work may again shortly be indulged Owing to the splendid foals Hotchkiss is sireing it is most likely Mr Morrin's crack mare Frailty will be mated with him. In view of the forthcoming interprovincial football match with Canterbury the Cup matches will be discontinued. The position of the senior teams in the Cup matches stand at present as follows :— Played. Drawn. Lost. Won. Paruell C.I 1 4 Grafton ... 8 0 3 5 Ponsonby ... 7 1 • 2 4 City ... 8 13 4 Suburbs ... 7 0 4 3 Newton ... 8 - 1 4 3 North Shore ... 8 0 7 1
