Among returning Maonlanders is Mr James Robertson, formerly of Lawrence, who panied by Mrs Robertson and family. The Tuapeka Times says Mr Robertson has discovered, after a varied and pretty extensive acquaintance with Melbourne business life, that there is yet no place in the Southern Seas to compare with New Zealand ; no other colony where the conditions of life, taken all round, are so favourable ; where industry and energy and business capacity are so sure of reward as they are in this colony of ours. Mr Robertson has come back to stay, as so many other colonists have done who left these shores for " Marvellous Melbourne " some four or five years ago when [it was in the noonday of its meteoric prosperity.
