FARMERS' AGENCY COMPANY (LIMITED) WEEKLY REPORT.

Fat Cattle. — 2-10 yarded ; in quality the best allround offered at Burnside for a considerable time. The supply was rather excessive, but nearly all were disposed of under the hammer at prices almost up to last week. Bullocks sold at L6 los to L 9 10s ; cows, L 5 5s to L 8 10s. We yarded 95 and sold as follows : — For Mr Alexander Douglas (llopehill), 17 bullocks at L 6 17s Od to L 9, 7 cows at LG 25s ; for Mr John Hardie (Laurel Hill), 20 bullocks at M 15s to L 8 10s, 2 heifers at L 6 7s 6d ; for Mr John Standish (Boggyburn), 14 prime heifei s at LG 17s Gd to L 8 5s ; for Mr Allan (Caversham), 1 heifer at L 6; for Messrs Townley, 2 heifers at L 5 17s 6d ; for Mr T. Bowling (Woodburn\ 7 do at L 5 2s 6d to L 7 7s 6d, 25 bullocks at L 6 7s Gd to L 9.

Fat Sheep.— 224o penned, including 500 merinos. Quality consideiably below the standard of late supplies. Sales quiet, with an absence of buyers of freezers. Prices declined 6d to Is 6d a head from last week. Best wethers (an odd pen or so), 17s to 19s 3d ; others, 14s to 16s ; ewes, 12s to 153 (one pen extra to 18s) ; merinos, 10s 6d to 12s 6d. We sold : For Mr W. Jaffrey, jun. (Saddle Hill), 40 crossbred ewes at 14s, 40 do at 13s 6d to 13s 9d, 40 do at 12s 9d to 13s 6d ; for Mr Robert Neill (Strath), 56 half bred hoggets at 13s 6d to 13s 9d ; for Mr R. M'Caw, 120 crossbred ewes and wethers at 13s 3d to 16s. Also, privately for Messrs James Smith and Sons (Greenfield), 2000 crossbred wethers at 17s 3d.

Country Sales.— We held our monthly sale at Middleniarch on Tuesday, and had a fair entry, for which there was good competition. We sola for clients, 12 bullocks at LG ss, 12 do at L 6 ss, 4 do at L6 los, 1 cow at L 2 10s, 3 cows at L 4 15s, 7 steers at L 5 13s, 4 do at L 5 ss, hacks at L 6 10s to LlO, buggy LlO, do L 7 17s (sd, harness, Ac. at fair prices ; also, 116 merino wethers at 9s 3d, 120 crossbred ewes at 13s. Our next sale takes place on Tuesday, 20th September. We will hold our regular fortnightly sale at Clinton on Saturday at 2 o'clock precisely ; also Gore on Tuesday, 30th ; and at Gamble's on Thursday, Ist September. Kabbitekins : A brisk demand for all sorts, with a rise of id in prices. Best worth 16Jd to 17d ; good do, 14d to J6ld ; medium, lid to!3£d : winter black and fawn, lOd to 12§d ; inferior, 41d to 9id. As usual all consignments cleared by auction every Monday morning. Grain :In wheat only prime quality dealt in, and that at rather advanced prices, lower grades plentiful but difficult to sell. We quote: Prime milling 3s 7d to 4s; other grades, 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Oats : The demand has increased, and supplies being short, prices for bright feed and milling are firm at top quotations, which are Is lid to 2s for best ; Is fld to Is lOd, medium ; Is 7d to Is BJd others : selected lines for seed, 2s Id to 2s 6d. Barley : None on offer. Grass seed plentiful at 2s 9d to 3s 9d, according to quality. Cocksfoot ; Good quality 3'|d to 5d per lb.
