LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark, J. Duncan, A« M'Kcrrow, and W. Dallas.

Maniototo. — The board was requested to determine how forfeited pastoral licunsc No 837, section 3, block XVI, Maniototo district, lately held by George Murdoch, should be dealt with.— It was resolved that the section in question be offered for live years at an upset of LlO per annum. Dunedin. — An application by Mr John Colvin for a portion of the old bed of the Water of Leith through section 10, block XXXVI, Dunedin, was declined

Kurow Town.— The Stock department having intimated that section 11, block IX, Kurow town, was required by that department for building purposes, the board was requested to withdraw the section from sale in order that it might be made a reserve for Government buildings. — The request was acceded to. JYLou;\t Hyde. — An application by Mr George Lowell for a lease of section 7, block XII, Mount Hyde district, was declined. Ranger Fraser having reported on the application by Arthur Joyce for a lease of the recreation reserve, section 7, block XII, Mount Hyde district, the board declint d to grant the application. Blackstone.— Mr Huikson Mcc requested that when run 226 d was being cut up for settlement an area of 550 acres be laid off adjoining section 1, block 11, Blackstone district. — ltsferred to the chief surveyor.

Upper. Taieri.— Messrs J. and E. M'Donald requested an extension of time in which to pay rent on sections 3, 8, 0, and 10, block 11, Upper Taieri district, held by them under perpetual lease. — The application was granted.

Cardrona. — Mr Richard Norman wrote stating that a plantation 'made by his late father on Crown lands near Cardrona was being destroyed, and requesting the board to take steps to prevent its destruction. — Referred to Ranger Mackenzie to report. lautuku. — Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., on behalf of Mr J. G. Scott, desired to ascertain whether section 13, block 11, Tautuku district, could be included in Mr Scott's perpetual lease of section 3 of the same block, and if not, whether he could obtain a license to occupy the said section — The board declined to entertain either proposal, lautuku. —The surveys of the following sections in Tautuku district were approved : — Block ll— sections 1, 3, and 4 ; block 111 — sections 1 to 12 ; block IV— sections Ito 4, 7, 9, 10, 16, 18, 21, 22, 24, and 2(5. The following sections were recommended for notification :— Block ll— sections 5 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 ; block 111 —sections 10 to 22 ; block IV— sections 12, 13, 14, 17, IS), 20, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31, at prices ranging from 10s to 25s an acre •- ,> "" •, „ Cairn Hill. — The warden at Clyde having granted occupation licenses to certain persons within the area held by Mr John Butler, under pastoral run license No. 820, Cairn Hill district, the board was requested to revoke Mr Butler's license over the area deducted — viz., 139 a2r 14p ; and tn rndurp rental by L 3 7s. The request was complied with. HvDii.— Sections 1 to 7, block V, and Ito9. block VI, town of Hyde, having been classified as suburban land, the board was requested to decide whether they be now offered for sale, and if so, at what price. — It wad resolved that the sections in question be offered in alternate sections at an upset of L 3 per acre. Applications. — The following applications were approved :— Rural land for cash : Win. Olds, section 30, block 111, Cromwell district. Rural land on perpetual lease : Julia Duhig, sections 5 and 6, block V, Cromwell. Village settlement land on perpetual lease : John Roderick M'Lennan, section 5, block VIII, Woodland districts. To complete purchase of deferred payment land : Colin M'Gregor, section 32, block XI, Kelso town ; J. J. Hcrriot, section 5, block XVII, Glenkenich district ; J. Butler, sections 34 and 35, block I, Cairn Hill district,

Maehewiienua.— J. A. and Annie M'Pherson applied to have forfeiture of their perpetual lease sections 21 and 22, block 11, Macicwhenua, rescinded. — The board could not see its way to grant the application, as the conditions as to improvements and reMdence had not been complied with. Siiotovkk.— Mr James Atley applied to purchase under agricultural lease section !)0, Mock XX, Shotover district. — Recommended for the approval of the Governor. A Water Raci: Lice.nsc— Mr J. Lory applied for a water r.ice license for a lace atlutuku 80 chains in length.— The license was granted for 15 years on payment of a fee of ss. Waikaia.— Mr A. C. Martin, on behalf of Mr D. Paiker, requested the board to reconsider its decision in regard to offering the land at Waikaia known as "the burned bush" under pastoral license, anil also to cancel the resolution of the 17th inst. relating thereto.— The board adhered to its previons decision in the matter.
