Hay. lie met a team of 11 players from Brighton and Cheltenham, and in the course of an hour and a-half, scored 8 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses. Wyllie, tho " Herd Laddie "— who is now, by the way, a "laddie" of 73 — was never engaged on the occupation which the sobriquet would suggest (asserts the Liverpool Mercury). The simple mistake of a spectator at one of the earliest matches conferred a title which ■ has stuck to him nigh on to 60 years.
