August 13. News is to hand from West Africa that tho natives aro greatly disturbed at the numerous expeditions in their country. Ifc is feared that 20 agents of the Katanga expedition have been killed, and the steamer Baernet captured by natives. The tribes on the western bank of the Congo are in revolt, and three agents have been killed at Nyangwe. Tho stations in Upper Lomani havo been destroyed, aud it is feared that the Arabs in the neighbourhood of Stanley Falls have turned hostile. Soldiers have been despatched up the Aruwimi river.

News is to hand that there is a general revolt in the Upper Congo. The chief Rumatiza is at the head of the disturbance, which extends from Lake Tanganyika to Lake Victoria Nyanza and Upper Lomani. The stations of the Anti-slavery Society and Trading Company have been destroyed, and Jacques and Joubert's expedition to Lake Tanganyika have been driven back. It is believed that Hodister, director of the Katanga expedition, has been either killed or captured.
