LAND HOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), 11. Clark, J. Duncan, A. M'Kerrow, and W. Dallas.

Licknsi: Cancelled.— J.uncs Haugh having been given a month in which to pay rout of Hun No. 4!J3 due Ist March last, and having failed to dp so, the run was ordered to be gazetted for forfeiture. Lower llawfa. — Ranger Mackenzie suggested reduction of valuation of forfeited pastoral license section 4, block VII, Lower Hawea district, to L 55, owing to depreciation of value of improvements. — lo be re-offered with reduced valuation of L3O. Woodland.— Mr C. 11. G. Bcrncy applied for title to be issued for section 21, block 111, Woodland district, held by him under homestead systimi. — Grant to issue. Waikaia.— Ranger Hughan reported on the application of D. Parker and Sons and John Frago to have portion of land at Wakaia known as the "Burned Bush" containing about 2300 acres offered under pastoral license. — Governor to be recommended to offer as a pastoral run for a term of 18 years, to fall in with run 424 aat upset rental of L 5.

I'B.vroT. — The complaint of Mrs M'Ppherson that Mr Jones had fenced in portion of Coal Reserve in block 11, Teviot district, was reported on by Hanger Hughan, and the board referred the niatter back to him to effect the best settlement he could.

Maerewhenua and Moeraki.— Surrendered and forfeited pastoral lease holdings were ordered to- bo reoffered as under :— Perpetual lease, village settlement, sections 21 and 22, block 11, Maerewhenua district, to be i\ offered at 40s an acre; perpetual lease, village settlement, section 24, block 11, Maerewhenua district, to be reoffered at 30s an acre; perpetual lease section 2}, block XIII, Moeraki district, to be reoffered at capital value of 10s per acre, with valuation of L59 17s for improvements ; perpetual lease section 22, block XIII, Moeraki district, to be reoffered at capital value of 10s an acre, with valuation for improvements L 3.

Hi&HLAY.— E. M. M'Donald's complaint against D. M'Rae, lessee of small grazing run section 1, block VI, Highlay district, for not having properly fenced same, was reported on by Hanger Hughan — M 'Donald to be informed that necessary improvements have been effected.

MiDT/AKATiru.— F. M'Bride applied for grazing rights-over sections 4 nnd 30, Mock VI, and sections 1, 2, and 3, block XIV, Midwakatipu district, Messrs Hope and Muriay, to whom the right, had been granted, having failed to stock their.Run No. 11 with sheep. — Ranger Mackenzie to report. ' Nasebv. — Warden Dalgliesh reported on reserve at back of sections 107, 5(5, 13'J to 142, block I, town ot Naseby. — Referred back for further information.

Lower Wanaka. — Ranger Mackenzie forwarded valuation of improvements on sections lfrto 13, block I, Lower AVanaka district.— To be recommended for notification and granted as one section at capital value of 10s per acre, with valuation L2lB 18s, subject to approval of Gover•jiol;. - " -Skipper Cheek. —Tho residents of Skipper .Creek undertaking to keep the land known as the "Skipper Creek Commonaqc" clear of rabbits for jthe right of depasturing their stock thereon, the board referred the matter to the Stock department i Run "225. — Mr John Stavely requested that when ,Bun 223 was being cut up for settlement au area ■of from 300 to 400 acres be laid off adjoining his section and opened up as a small grazing run. — Referred to chief surveyor for consideration.

WoonLAN.B.— Messrs T. Allan and P. Gordon ' asked ,for reconsideration of the request that rent of perpetual leases in the unsurveyed block X, Woodland distript, should not commence until completion i of survey. — Declined. 'ihe Undersecretary for Lands, requested the board to decide; -aa to how the nnsurveyed bluck IX, cWoodlind, district, set aside for occupation by naval and military settlers, should be dealt with. —^To be- notified as unsurveyed land under section 8 of " Nival and Military Settlers and Volunteer Land Act 1801."

GlknomauAj. — Annie Kennedy's application for village settlement land (for cash), sections 31 and 32, block 11, Glenomaru district, were approved of ; and John Ford's application to purchase land on perpetual lease, section 7, block XI, Green vale district, \va.s recommended for approval of the Minister.

Waikoikot.— Ranger Fraer having reported on Thomas M'Dermid's section, 1, Waikoiltoi town, the board agreed to rescind forfeiture and transfer to JohirHerribtt upon payment of arrears, expense of advertising, and transfer fee. lIUN 220. — - Caleb Dungcy applied to have his present holding increased by 557 acres when Hun 226n is cut up for settlement — Referred to chief surveyor for consideration when survey is being effected.
