The Clutha County Gazette chronicle's the death of an old identity in the person of Mrs M'Donaid, wife of. Mr Ronald M'Donald, of Wairuna, and mother of our townsman, Mr Angus M'Donald. The deceased lady was a resident of the district for some 27 years, and was highly respected by all who knew her. Summer Numbers.— We have received a copy of the summer number of the Illustrated London News from Mr W. J. Prictor, News Agent, North East Valley. The number is rendered specially attractive by its being the jubilee number of the paper, and the leading feature is a sketch drawn by John Leech, and reprinted from the issue of liecember 19, 1857. Coming at the time of the late Home elections some of " Phjz's " representations of an election in 1532 cannot fail to interest everyone as showing the marked contrast of an election at that time and one at the present day. An exhibition of the Nelson statue at Cnaring Cross before it was placed in position at Trafalgar Square is also full of interest. Four email coloured pictures accompany the uurabor.
