IN MEMORIAM.
Woolley. —In loving memory of our dear father, Samuel Woolley, who died at Waikouaiti, July 21, 1890 ; aged 82 years. He is gone, our loving father, Whpm'we all did love so dear. He is mourned by all who kqew him, His loss they all deplore. For well they know they ne'er will meet His equal any more. He was ever ready to assist Or stand th° poor man's friend ; Unto the_ needy and distressed A helping hand would lend. And we. his orphan children, Do miss him ten times more ; But we know he is gone to mother dear, Upon a brighter shore, Where they will wait and pray for us, Until by Heaven's decree, We are called from earth to dwell With them for all eternity. — Inserted by his loving children.
An aerolite of enormous size is reported by the newspapers to have fallen into the Caspian Sea not far from Apsheron. As it now lies, it has, it is said, the appearance of an ordinary rock, projecting over I.2ft above the level of the sea, which at this point is 25ft deep.
