FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
Meiers Arthur M 1 Donald and Co. (as agents for Mesrrs Henry S. Fitter and Sons) hand us the following report on the London meat market, dated Jnne 26:—
The warm weather during the past fortnight hai quite upset the trade, and fche demand for meat on Borne dayi has been very limited. Home-killed beef and mutton still continue rather ihort, and fair prices are consequently maintained. American beef has this week been shorter, and prices have improved. This is favourable to the trade for Hew Zealand beef, and the demand is better, but as the stock is heavier, and there Is now more on the market, the prices show no Improvement. The stock of frozen mutton now on hand is very large, and although the demand has been fairly good, we have not been able to keep pace with the supplies and prevent the stocks accumulating. Best sheep contiuue In good demand, and realise fair prices, but there have been so many large fat sheep and damaged sheep on the market, that prioes for suoh descriptions have dropped considerably. New.Zealand lamb is in good demand, but the supply is so large, and so muoh distributed, that It is impossible to realise fair prioes. Some of the ships continue to discharge the meat very slowly, which causes great inconvenience at times.
