July 20.— Tbe fortnightly meeting of tbe Glenkeniob Mutual Improvement Society was held in tbe Behooluouse on Tuesday last, whoa there wna a large attendance; the president (Mr A. Boss) occupying the chair. The programme consisted of musical and vocal selections, and also comic n adings. Mr A. Dune* 1 plaj-ed marches and strathspeys on the bagpipas in his usual cxee lent style, while Mr J Duncan's step danoiujf was highly appreciated by ever.v- one present. Mies shaw (Kelao), who is an exo-pt.ionaHy sweet singer, contributed | two songa, for which she was loudly applaud' d. Mr J. Stewart's humoroua Scotch reading caused a g<-e«t deal of merriment. Mr Purvis, the tScutoU vocalist, who is going thu rounds of the diet-riot, sang "Jeanie Dean" iv capital style, and had to respond to an encoro. Tne slogiag of "Auld lang ayne" brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
