- The immigration and emigration returns for May show that arrivals were 864 and the departures 2194, leaving a balance against the colony of 1330. John Burke, late of the Costley Home, on whose behalf Lord Onslow used his good offices to procure Koch's tuberculine, has died. When the operation was performed little hope of success was ft It, as Burke was in an advanced state of consumption. A post mortem showed that both luDgs wete practically gone. No trace either of benefioial or ill results could be traced from the use of the taberculine.
The Moerafei Licensing Committtee met on Monday, and 'grafted two oat of three applications for hotel licenses. The committee was elected on prohibition lines.
